 orn Club. Ties are not required\,\nbut preferred.\n\nABOUT THE ACORN CLUB\
 n\nThe Acorn Club was founded in 1889 and is the oldest women’s club of\
 nits kind. The club was formed as a perpetual body for the promotion of\nl
 iteracy\, musical and artistic tastes for social enjoyments and such\nothe
 r kindred purposes as the club may from time to time determine.\n\nAt its 
 inception\, the club had eight charter members. Located at 1519\nLocust St
 reet\, its residence for over 50 years\, the club provides a\ngracious and
  welcoming environment in Center City Philadelphia. The\nfirst meeting roo
 m was a house on Pine Street and the first clubhouse\nwas located at 1504 
 Walnut Street. Architect Sydney Martin designed\nthe present clubhouse bui
 lt in 1956. “Vues d’Amerique Du Nord”\n(Scenes of North America)\, p
 roduced by Jean Zuber et Cie\, adorns the\nfirst-floor foyer\, and the res
 t of the clubhouse is beautifully\ndecorated with art acquired over the pa
 st 100 years.\n
