This competition is an\nopportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of the\na ccounting process\, system of internal controls and the COSO framework\nfo r internal controls. It is also an opportunity to refine\npresentation ski lls and network with alumni and local professionals\nwho serve as the coac hes and judges.\n\nKICKOFF EVENT There is a mandatory kickoff event that a ll registrants\nmust attend to meet their teammates and get the case mater ials on\nMonday February 13th from 4-6pm. Check the events calendar for\nr egistration and further details.\n\nDAY OF THE COMPETITION Registration wi ll take place from 8-8:30am.\nParticipants will have a chance to enjoy a c ontinental breakfast and\nget to know team members and meet their coaches. The program will\nbegin at 8:30am with a guest speaker who will provide v ital\ninformation for the case.\n\nEach team will have 3.5 hours (9am -12: 30pm) to review the case and\ncritical information just provided\, formula te their response to the\ncase questions and develop a PowerPoint based pr esentation. A box\nlunch will be provided at noon so teams may continue to work on their\npresentations. Each team must submit an electronic copy of their\npresentation by 12:30pm. No changes may be made to teams’ PowerP oint\npresentations after the 12:30pm submission deadline.\n\nTeams will b e randomly assigned a 15 minute slot with one of our two\npanels of judges to present their results. Team presentations will be\nin 20 minute interv als to allow transitions between 1:00 and 3:30. The\ntop four teams will b e announced at the conclusion of the first round\nof judging. Immediately following this we will release the rest of the\ngroup and the top four tea ms will again be randomly assigned for the\nfinal round of judging. Awards will be presented as soon as the judges\nhave reached a decision.\n\nKEY DATES • REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1\, 2017\, 6PM •\nKICK-OFF EVE NT: FEBRUARY 13\, 2017\, 4-6PM • COMPETITION DATE:\nFEBRUARY 17\, 2017\, 8AM-4PM\n\nTEAM STRUCTURE\n\nTeams will be assigned by the accounting dep artment and align with the\nbelow requirements. • 4 students per team • at least 1 Accounting\nMajor\, 1 upper classman or MS student\, and 1 under classman per team\n• a limit of 10 case teams\, so the first 40 el igible students who\nsign up and are assigned to teams will receive one of the available\nspots.\n\nTEAM PRIZES • 1ST PLACE - $500 ($125 PER EACH TEAM MEMBER) • 2ND\nPLACE - $300 ($75 PER EACH TEAM MEMBER) • 3RD PLAC E - $200 ($50 PER\nEACH TEAM MEMBER)\n\nREGISTRATION AND REQUIREMENTS Due to the nature of the competition\,\nparticipation is limited\; not every a pplication will be accepted into\nthe competition.\n\nYou will be notified if you have been accepted into the competition no\nlater than February 6\ , 2017.\n\nTo register please complete the registration form.
