Students: Upload and Share a Video Submission Using Drexel Streams

Drexel Streams is the university’s course media server which can store an unlimited amount of video for anyone with a Drexel account. By uploading your video to Drexel Streams, you can easily make a video assignment submission accessible to your instructor and classmates.

Upload your Video to Drexel Streams

If possible, we recommend transferring your video file to a desktop/laptop and uploading it to Drexel Streams from there. However, you can also upload your video directly from your mobile device to Drexel Streams with a few modified steps included below.

If you are uploading your video from a mobile device, you may wish to connect to a wireless internet network rather than using your mobile data.

  1. Go to Drexel Streams on the device where your video is stored. You may be prompted to log in using Drexel Connect.
    • You may wish to bookmark that direct link to Drexel Streams, but you can also get to Drexel Streams through Drexel One if you navigate to the Campus + Community tab and scroll down to the Technology Services section.
  2. Click on +Add New, located at the right side of the top navigation bar
    • On a mobile or smaller screen, you should instead look for the plus sign (+) in the top navigation bar
  3. From the pop-up menu, select Media Upload
  4. Read and agree to the terms and conditions
  5. Use the Upload Media space to choose a file to upload. On a desktop, you can also drag and drop a file into the space.
  6. You will see a progress bar fill as your file uploads. The time required will depend on the video’s file size and your internet connection speed.
  7. When complete, you will see a message that says Upload Completed.
  8. Title your video (and optionally enter a description).
  9. If given the option, change the publishing status to Unlisted. This is very important so that your classmates and instructor will be able to see your video.
    • If this option does not appear in this step, or if you forget to change it, you can also do so in step 12.
  10. Click Save. You will see a message confirming that your changes have been saved.
  11. Click on Go to Media.
    • You may see a message that states “Media is being processed / Click Here to refresh.” The time required for processing will depend on the size of the video file. Expect that it may take around twice as much time as the video’s duration.
  12. If you did not change the publishing status in step 9:
    • Tap/click to open the ACTIONS pop-up menu on the right.
    • Select Publish
    • Under Publishing Status, switch the option to Unlisted
    • Tap/click Save.

Make sure you change the publishing status to Unlisted. If the publishing status is set to Private, your instructor and classmates will not be able to see your video.

  1. Below the video’s title and description, click on the Share tab.
    • On a mobile or smaller screen, you may need to first tap on Details to open the pop-up menu and then select Share.
  2. If you will be using your current device to post to Blackboard, copy the full URL shown in the box under Link to Media Page.
  3. If you will be accessing Blackboard from a different device:
    • Go to Drexel Streams on the device you are using to access Blackboard
    • Click on My Media to see the videos you have uploaded.
    • Click on your video submission in the list.
    • Go to the Share tab and copy the full URL shown in the box under Link to Media Page.

Share your Video (via Blackboard Discussion)

  1. Navigate to the designated discussion forum for your course assignment
  2. Read your instructor’s directions carefully: you may need to create your own thread in the forum – OR, you may need to post a reply to a pre-existing thread.
  3. Add your video title in the Subject box.
  4. In the Message box, paste your URL and include any other description/comments your instructor has requested. This may include the name(s) of any other group members if this is a group assignment.
  5. Submit your thread or reply.
