Assistant Professor of Economics
Filippo Massari is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Fairfield University. He obtained a PhD in Economics from North Carolina State University. His research interests consist of understanding the determinants of long-run average income growth. His expertise is in endogenous growth theory, which posits that economic growth results from intentional investment in research and development undertaken by profit-seeking firms.
His current research agenda can be broken down into three main domains.
- The first investigates the connection between firm competition, turbulence (job losses and job creations that result from firms entering and exiting the market or expanding and shrinking in size), and economic growth.
- The second aims to identify the permanent effect of economic busts and booms on aggregate productivity.
- The third consists of studying economic adaptation to sea level rise in coastal areas through the reallocation of economic activity.
