Yanatha Desouvre, BS business administration ’01, was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Philadelphia. Desouvre is a modern-day renaissance man and serves as the only full-time faculty of entrepreneurship at Miami Dade College. He serves on the executive board of the NABJ South Florida Chapter.
A #1 best-selling Amazon.com author, critically acclaimed and award-winning filmmaker and sought-out public speaker on the topics of impact, entrepreneurship and the arts, his latest novella, “Revelations: Roads to Redemption,” has been partially adapted as the award-winning and critically acclaimed short film titled, “The Sweetest Girl.” Desouvre served as the co-screenwriter and producer on the short film, which was shot in the Summer 2020 in the height of COVID-19 pandemic, and his current script, “Fortunate Son,” is the follow up to “The Sweetest Girl.”
According to The Blacklist, a trusted platform for screenwriters, “The Sweetest Girl” is being compared to Oscar winners, “Moonlight,” “If Beale Streets Could Talk,” and Emmy-winner “Dopesick.”
Desouvre is a contributor to “A Legacy to Share: Navigating Life’s Challenges & Celebrating Our Greatest Achievements,” the award-winning collection of essays and interviews with more than 50 of Drexel University’s Black alumni. He has been featured in various print publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Daily News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Miami Herald, Miami New Times, HuffPost and Black Enterprise, and on television outlets that include PBS, NBC. ABC, CBS and Fox.
Desouvre is the founder of R.D.J.A DES LLC, a media company that specializes in film production and PR services with over 20 plus years of proven, purposeful and relevant public relations, marketing and award-winning production experiences that work.
Desouvre received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Management Information Systems and Marketing at Drexel University and earned his MBA with dual concentrations in Marketing and Mass Communication Media Management from Lynn University.
