Drexel LeBow Forms Partnership With CAIA

April 21, 2011

Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business has become an official partner of the CAIA (the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association). Through this partnership, CAIA recognizes LeBow College of Business as an institution where students have access to classes that cover alternative investments as well as faculty who have an expertise in alternative investments.

Erik Benrud, Ph.D., clinical professor of finance and an expert in alternative investments, is Drexel LeBow’s representative for CAIA. He says alternative investments represent one of the fastest growing areas of the investment industry. “This partnership means LeBow students will now be able to leverage the CAIA curriculum,” says Benrud, adding that CAIA’s is “the only program that provides a globally recognized professional designation in hedge fund, private equity, real estate, commodities and structured products.”

Another benefit of the partnership is that Drexel LeBow students can now participate in the CAIA Scholarship Program.  Through this program, up to four Drexel LeBow students can take the Level I CAIA exam – the first step toward earning an official CAIA designation -- at a 90 percent discount (more than $1,000 savings) each year.  Drexel faculty and staff can also benefit from this program and earn the CAIA designation at a substantial discount.
