Drexel PRSSA Selected to Host National Conference, Seeks Volunteers
Drexel University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has won its bid to host the PRSSA National Conference at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia in October 2013. Melissa Clawson, the PRSSA member who is serving as the 2012 national conference coordinator, says the group expects more than 1,000 attendees.
The group is seeking student volunteers who want to help plan and execute the conference to serve on the group’s conference committees. Most of the work won’t begin until April. Clawson says this is a great opportunity for marketing majors or other business students interested in PR or event planning to gain hands-on experience.
The group is also seeking alumni who work in PR to serve as panelists at the event.
“The opportunity is truly an honor,” Clawson says. “It’s a great opportunity for Drexel to host such a large event. PR students and professionals will recognize Drexel University in blogs and on social media. The opportunity for Drexel's PRSSA chapter to be on the national stage is going to be an amazing learning experience.”
Drexel PRSSA students spent six months putting their bid together, which suggests session and panel ideas, possible speakers and sponsors, a list of attractions and travel logistics.
