International Recognition for LeBow’s Social Impact and Sustainability Efforts
For the second year in a row, Drexel LeBow received international recognition for its social impact and sustainability efforts from the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) a Swiss association that governs the rating and is globally regarded for its assessment of business schools’ social and environmental impact.
The PIR results were unveiled on June 18, at the United Nation’s PRME online Global Forum, and once again LeBow achieved Level 4, the second-highest level in the Positive Impact Rating 2024 report, “Empowering Impact Excellence: Cultivating the Transformation in Business Education.” LeBow was one of 77 business schools across 30 countries to receiving ratings, and was one of eight U.S. business schools to receive a Level 4 rating.
The PIR is a rating conducted by students and for students. For the fifth time, students worldwide assessed their business schools on how they perceive their positive impact on the world. LeBow’s data collection was organized by undergraduate students Sam Gedeon ’24, BS behavioral economics, business and organizations; Angelina Scavitto ’25, BSBA finance and business analytics; Zach Dowhower ’24, BS economics; and graduate students Sneha Rebecca Babu ’24, MS accounting; and Chinaemerem Daniel ’24 MS business analytics; and overseen by Sarah Haley, director of academic data management and analysis.
“As a graduate student at LeBow for about a year, this experience has given me a deeper understanding of the institution’s values,” Babu says. “LeBow places a strong emphasis on academic excellence, ethical leadership, and community engagement, and achieving a Level 4 rating in the Positive Impact Rating is a testament to these values. It reflects LeBow’s commitment to creating a positive social impact and its dedication to sustainability achievements.”
As a signatory to the UN’s Principles of Responsible Management Education, LeBow is committed to making a positive societal impact beyond its contribution to business and the economy. Through participation in the PIR, the only rating worldwide in which students assess their business schools’ positive impact, LeBow gives students a platform to assess the College’s effort and provides a unique opportunity for their voice to be heard.
Among the data collection team’s findings were an aggregated list of student recommendations for near-term priorities for the College, including expanded mental health resources for students and increased support for student career development.
Over five editions, the PIR continues to bring business schools and students together in cooperation for responsible management education, aligning with and supporting the UN Global Compact and PRME principles.
