Walkling Named Stratakis Endowed Chair in Corporate Governance and Accountability
Dr. Ralph Walkling has been appointed the first holder of the Christopher and Mary Stratakis Endowed Chair in Corporate Governance and Accountability. Christopher Stratakis' '51 foresight to underscore the importance of corporate governance and accountability in business education will be supported through research, symposia, training and services to the academic and business communities.
Dr. Walkling joins Drexel University's LeBow College of Business effective July 1, 2005 from Ohio State University where he served as a Dean’s distinguished professor of finance. He is an internationally renowned scholar for both his research in this area and for his dynamic ability to communicate financial concepts. He is considered one of the top finance scholars worldwide and has been quoted in periodicals ranging from USA Today to CFO magazine. His academic research in corporate governance and corporate finance includes numerous articles in top academic and professional journals such as The Journal of Financial Economics and The Journal of Finance. He serves as associate editor of several prestigious journals, including The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, The Journal of Corporate Finance and Financial Review. He is a past associate editor of Financial Management and has held several elective offices in national academic and professional organizations. He has directed several dissertations and served routinely as an external reviewer of academic and professional journals.
In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Walkling will serve as executive director of LeBow College of Business' Center for Corporate Governance. The Center for Corporate Governance will serve as a think tank for corporate governance issues to educate and mentor business executives and future leaders through forums, research and applied knowledge.
