How to Install Tableau

Tableau is freely available to faculty and students for instructional purposes only.

Faculty

  1. Browse to https://www.tableau.com/academic/teaching.
  2. Select REQUEST INDIVIDUAL LICENSE at the bottom of the page.
  3. Complete the form using your Drexel email address.
  4. Select ACCEPT AND SUBMIT.
  5. Once your request has been approved, you will receive an email with instructions for downloading and installing the software.

Students

Tableau requires documentation that you are currently enrolled as a student at Drexel University. Examples of acceptable documents include:

  • ID card with an expiration date in the future
  • Transcript with a current course schedule
  • Other school-issued documents

Please have one of these items ready before you continue.

  1. Browse to https://www.tableau.com/academic/students.
  2. Select GET TABLEAU FOR FREE at the bottom of the page.
  3. Complete the form using your Drexel email address.
  4. Select VERIFY AND CONTINUE.
  5. Select Choose file.
  6. Browse to the location where you saved your verifying documentation and select the file.
  7. Select Open.
  8. Select SUBMIT FOR REVIEW.
  9. Once your request has been approved, you will receive an email with instructions for downloading and installing the software.
