Throughout the year, the Accounting Advisory Council provides invaluable input to assist the department in enhancing its curriculum and programming. The council has helped us to update the accounting curriculum to esure that it is in alignment with the needs of prospective employers and in compliance with the new Pennsylvania CPA requirements. They have provided guidance and support to students to assist them in achieving their career goals in the field of accounting. They have also provided advice on new initiatives to expand the department’s programs, such as professional development offerings and networking events. Thank you to the members of our Accounting Advisory Council.

Two Ph.D. students have recently been honored for their exceptional work at Drexel LeBow.

On June 15 at 9 a.m., Drexel University will celebrate its 126th Commencement at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Receiving this year’s honorary degrees from LeBow College of Business are Charles E. Haldeman Jr., noted financier; Buzz Bissinger, a prolific Pulitzer prize-winning author and Robert and Esther “Penny” Fox, chairman and CEO of his investment firm and noted philanthropist, respectively.

If ever a phrase had definition creep, “Economic Sustainability” has. At one point it had an environmental and philanthropic perspective. Later “energy usage reduction” and “recycling” were added. Today the term includes all of these, plus “supply chain ethics” and “risk mitigation”; “fair labor relations” and “diversity/talent acquisition.”

What do you get when you put a room full of successful executives and great academic minds together? The Executive MBA Alumni Continuing Education Summit. Congratulations to our students who have been recognized for their academic achievements.

Before class one fateful morning, communications student Patrick Medeo began his daily routine by checking his email. His eyes widened as he read an invitation to participate in a PR/Marketing Case Competition, sponsored by LeBow College of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Experiential education is the hallmark of a Drexel LeBow education. So it’s no wonder that during her last auditing class, Associate Professor Barbara Grein wanted to incorporate elements that had students not only studying, but working as well. Since auditing contains concepts and processes that can be difficult to comprehend with just textbook and lecture presentations, adding an experiential component to the class would be very beneficial to learning.

Several of our doctoral students will be appearing at upcoming accounting conferences and have had papers published. Congratulations to all!

Assistant Professor of Marketing Daniel Korschun, Ph.D., who was just honored with a top University teaching award, offers his students a "lifetime gurantee."

Board meeting

Interested in joining a board? And if so, are you prepared? Unless you have participated on a corporate or nonprofit board of directors, it is unlikely that you have a complete understanding of a board member’s responsibilities. The Directors Academy at Drexel LeBow’s Center of Corporate Governance can help with that.
