Drexel LeBow’s Business Learning Community (BLC), an exceptional group of 37 freshmen devoted to both leadership development and social responsibility, has more than a respite after finals to be thankful for this holiday season.

By offering potential investors more choices with respect to fees charged and the required time for keeping their capital invested, Erik Benrud, Ph.D., clinical professor of finance at Drexel LeBow, demonstrates in his recent article in Financial Decisions that hedge fund managers can keep more capital invested even in the face of a financial crisis and a declining number of such investors.

Teams of Drexel LeBow professors and students are competing in a course-innovation contest that will take advantage of the technology featured in a new 12-story, $90 million building opening in fall 2013.

At its sixth annual National Distance Leaning Week ceremony earlier this month, Drexel University Online honored Samantha Ortiz, program manager for the online program MBA in Healthcare. She was awarded the Outstanding Online Professional Staff Award.

Stanley K. Ridgley, Ph.D.’s book, “The Complete Guide to Business School Presenting: What Your Professors Don't Tell You…What You Absolutely Must Know,” has been named the winner of 2012 USA Best Book Awards in the Business Careers category. The book was also a finalist for the Education/Teaching category.

On Tuesday November 13, the Drexel Entrepreneur Association held its second annual Dragon Alumni Entrepreneurs event featuring three Drexel alumni.

Drexel University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has won its bid to host the PRSSA National Conference at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia in October 2013. Melissa Clawson, the PRSSA member who is serving as the 2012 national conference coordinator, says the group expects more than 1,000 attendees.
